DoT Mitigation (also known as DoT Reduction, formerly known as Additional Damage Reduction) is an effect that reduces damage taken from DoT (Damage over Time). DoT mitigation is passively capped at 50% (with the exception of Colosseum where it is not capped) and will not go higher if attempting to do so. With 100% DoT mitigation through buffs, a unit will receive 1 damage from Additional Damage rather than completely negating it.

Mitigation Properties

Rules with Mitigation Stacking

  • All types of passive mitigation stack additively with each other, but passive mitigation caps at 50%.
    • Conditional mitigation counts as passive mitigation; however, only one conditional mitigation effect can be active at a time and will overwrite previous conditional mitigation effects.
    • Using Sacred Purpose Lukroar (SP-enhanced) and Pious Emperor Alza Masta as Squad Leaders while fulfilling Alza Masta's conditions for 20% damage reduction will result in 50% passive mitigation; however, using Uln'gha on a unit will not increase its passive mitigation due to achieving the 50% passive mitigation cap.
  • All types of buffed mitigation stack multiplicatively with each other. There is no cap to buffed mitigation.
  • Passive mitigation and buffed normal mitigation are additive with each other, but buffed elemental mitigation is multiplicative to the former result.
  • BB/SBB is considered one category and thus, mitigation buffs coming from BB and SBB will not stack with each other.
    • This can stack with UBB/DBB mitigation, however.
  • Mitigation piercing is applied additively to the damage calculation formula.

Mitigation Formula

Buffed Normal Mitigation = [1.0 * (1.0 - BB/SBB)] * [1.0 * (1.0 - UBB/DBB)]

Passive Mitigation (All types) = Leader Skill 1 + Leader Skill 2 + Extra Skill + Elgif Skill + Unit Type Bonus Skill (Guardian/Rex) + Sphere + SP Enhancement

Buffed Elemental Mitigation = [1.0 * (1.0 - BB/SBB)] * [1.0 * (1.0 - UBB/DBB)]

Final Damage = Damage * (1.0 + Damage Distribution Bonus) * {[((1 - Normal Mitigation) - Passive Mitigation + Normal Mitigation Piercing) * (1 - Elemental Mitigation + Elemental Mitigation Piercing)]}

Examples of Stacking

  • Loving Bonds Wintia’s 15% DoT mitigation on her SBB and Bright Star Persenet’s 20% DoT mitigation on her BB will not stack with each other. Whichever unit reaches to the enemy target last will have their DoT mitigation buff active.

Interactions with Elemental Paradigm

If the conditions for Paradigm 3 are met, all DoT Mitigation effects will have their buff durations extended by 1 turn.

  • Bright Star Persenet was the first unit to have its details mention the term "DoT" officially in her Unit Details' Brave Burst description.
    • This would eventually be coined as an official term starting with units released from Set the Deceiver and onward.
