- A month of tireless work later, Noel excitedly leads you into his lab once more.
- Around the portal bay, an array of metal rods and odd-looking cylinders are spread out in the circle.
- Noel: There it is,
[Summoner] . A solid month's work and theory, crystallized into a glorious physical form!
- Noel: Let me tell you, it was not easy trying to work on such an abstract concept.
- Noel: But I digress. Giselle, take it away.
- Giselle: So, based on what you've experienced with that "other" Athensphere, Noel and I conclude it's likely an "Echo."
- Giselle: It's a new term we came up with to explain the odd, rippling conundrum that is time and space.
- Giselle: Like real echoes, these "other" worlds reflect the "original" world we've encountered...
- Giselle: But due to a multitude of reasons, they've become slightly distorted in the process.
- Giselle: Though I wouldn't call Azius a "distortion" per se. Anyone who doesn't immediately try to blow up a world is good in my books.
- Noel: There's more to it than this deceptively simple explanation, of course, but it's the best way we can put it.
- Noel: Furthermore, these "Echoes" seem to be capable of affecting others within their own timeline.
- Giselle: Think of time as a singular string that splits off into two.
- Giselle: The one we're currently inhabiting is the "Prime"...
- Giselle: ...And the one that split off houses the "Echoes."
- Giselle: They're both from the same origin, but they are independent of each other...For now.
- Giselle: That's our best conjecture, extrapolating from a single data point.
- Giselle: And that's where you come in.
- You smile wryly, having noticed the padded seat in the center of the refurbished portal bay.
- That one was for you, wasn't it.
- Noel: Oh, don't look so worried. We're not going to launch you into space again.
- Noel: Well, not in a manner of speaking...
- Noel turns the seat around and gestures for you to sit, while fiddling with various screens off to the side.
- Noel: Since developing the Echo theory, we've looked into mapping those signals and tried to find a way to match that specific wavelength.
- Noel: While I would have loved to survey Athensphere's Echo again, it's been elusive so far...
- Noel: It probably has to do with the 'Veil', whatever that is. I'll keep looking into it.
- Giselle: In the meantime, though, we were able to match the signals to Elysia instead, based on existing data.
- Giselle: Aren’t you curious about what that place will look like as an Echo?
- Elysia...
- In that timeline, Azius mentioned that Draegar had died.
- Which means things would be different in that Echo.
- An Elysia uninvaded...What would it be like?
- Giselle: It won't hurt. That much.
