Specific Damage Mitigation (also known as Specific Damage Reduction) is an effect that reduces specific types of damage taken, including Unit Skills, Damage over Time, Normal Attacks, and Enemy Skills. It is one of the variants of Damage Mitigation.

This mitigation can also appear with negative values, causing affected units to take more damage. This is most notable on Ancient Calamity Arumat's Extra Skill.

The only units that have these effects are Spirit Conjurer Astrid on Leader Skill and Ancient Calamity Arumat, Zedus the Great, and Orochi Iori on Extra Skill.

In Arena/Colosseum

Currently, there are no units that reduce damage taken from Unit Skills. As such, Specific Damage Mitigation from currently released units does not work in Arena game modes.

Mitigation Properties

Rules with Mitigation Stacking

  • All types of passive mitigation stack additively with each other, but passive mitigation caps at 50%.
    • Conditional mitigation counts as passive mitigation; however, only one conditional mitigation effect can be active at a time and will overwrite previous conditional mitigation effects.
    • Using Sacred Purpose Lukroar (SP-enhanced) and Pious Emperor Alza Masta as Squad Leaders while fulfilling Alza Masta's conditions for 20% damage reduction will result in 50% passive mitigation; however, using Uln'gha on a unit will not increase its passive mitigation due to achieving the 50% passive mitigation cap.
  • All types of buffed mitigation stack multiplicatively with each other. There is no cap to buffed mitigation.
  • Passive mitigation and buffed normal mitigation are additive with each other, but buffed elemental mitigation is multiplicative to the former result.
  • BB/SBB is considered one category and thus, mitigation buffs coming from BB and SBB will not stack with each other.
    • This can stack with UBB/DBB mitigation, however.
  • Mitigation piercing is applied additively to the damage calculation formula.

Mitigation Formula

Buffed Normal Mitigation = [1.0 * (1.0 - BB/SBB)] * [1.0 * (1.0 - UBB/DBB)]

Passive Mitigation (All types) = Leader Skill 1 + Leader Skill 2 + Extra Skill + Elgif Skill + Unit Type Bonus Skill (Guardian/Rex) + Sphere + SP Enhancement

Buffed Elemental Mitigation = [1.0 * (1.0 - BB/SBB)] * [1.0 * (1.0 - UBB/DBB)]

Final Damage = Damage * (1.0 + Damage Distribution Bonus) * {[((1 - Normal Mitigation) - Passive Mitigation + Normal Mitigation Piercing) * (1 - Elemental Mitigation + Elemental Mitigation Piercing)]}
